Accessing Degree Works and searching for students

As an advisor, you can access students' degree audits several ways.

You can log into Degree Works from the left-hand menu on the Gibson Advisor tab.

This will open a new browser tab and you will be prompted to log in using your Tulane SSO credentials.  Once logged in, you will be able to select your advisees from the student drop down list on the right, or you can search for a student by their TUID.  Advanced Search will be discussed below.

Accessing Degree Works via advising list on Gibson

Students you are assigned to as an advisor will auto-populate on your Gibson Advisor tab as well.  Selecting “View” under “Degree Audit” for your advisee will open that student’s degree audit in a new tab in your browser.

Searching for a specific student via the Gibson Advisor tab

You can search for students by either their TUID or first and last names via the Gibson Advisor tab.  Once the results are returned, click “View” under “Degree Audit” and that student’s degree audit will open in a new tab in your browser.

Searching for a specific student within Degree Works

When working within Degree Works, you can quickly go to a student’s audit by entering their TUID directly and pressing “Enter” or “Return” on your keyboard.

When working within Degree Works, you can search for a student or population of students that fit various criteria using the Advance Search.  From the Worksheets page, click “Advanced search.”  This will open the following “Find Students” menu:

The “@” symbol can be used as a wildcard in the First/middle and Last name field:

It is strongly recommended that you use as much information as possible when searching for students in this way.  If the search discovers more than 750 students, Degree Works will only return the first 750 students it encounters, and you will receive a warning message:
