Program coding structure
A program in Banner is defined as: School + Degree + Level (e.g., LABA_UG. Liberal Arts School, Bachelors of Arts, Undergraduate).
The primary program is classified as priority 10.
All programs are associated with at least one primary, priority 10 major.
The primary major must be in the program’s school (e.g., the primary priority 10 program is LABA_UG, the primary priority 10 major must be in the School of Liberal Arts, could be ANTH, COMM, ENGL, SOCI, UNDL etc.).
A student’s declared program(s) can be viewed in SGASTDN/SFAREGS.
Multiple programs in the Curriculum block
Dual degree students will have a priority 10 degree program (primary) and a priority 20 degree program (secondary) in the Curriculum block. Both programs are current and active in the same term.
Banner uses priority numbers in increments of “10” to determine a program’s hierarchy. A student’s primary program is a priority 10 program, a student’s secondary program is a priority 20 program, and so forth in increments of “10”. “11”, “12”, etc., are not valid priority numbers.
A student’s priority 10 program normally rules tuition charges. There are tuition billing exceptions for special billing rates, and for programs with Student Attributes for billing of tuition.
The field of study, majors, minors, or certificate programs also have priority designation.
Multiple majors/minors in the Field of Study block
The primary major within a degree program is always priority 10. The secondary major for the same degree program is always priority 20, and so forth in increments of 10.
The first minor under a degree is also priority 10, regardless of other majors already declared. For example:
Priority 10 program: LABA_UG
Priority 10 Major: ENGL, Priority 20 Major: ANTH
Priority 20 Program: LAMA_GR
Priority 10 Major: ENGL
The process used to create a new program is basically the same as the process used to update a program.
Your choice of priority assigned to the new addition will determine if you are creating a new program or if you are updating an existing program.
When creating a new program your assigned new priority has to be one up from the existing greatest priority

Example
Student is currently enrolled in a program working towards earning one degree, and through a new admission the student is adding a new program with a second degree.
Student is in Banner with a SGASTDN learner record priority 10 LABA_UG Student is applying to a secondary graduate program LAMA_GR.
The student’s admission application is created in SAAADMS as a priority 20 LAMA_GR.
Student accepts offer of admission, applicant is confirmed, the new learner record is created SGASTDN.
The priority of the program in the first admission record will be priority 10, primary program code.
The priority of the program in the second admission record will be priority 20, secondary program code.
Students can have more than two programs simultaneously, in which case you could be admitting to a priority 30 and so forth.
